After graduating from What makes you interested in lifestyle blocks and why might you be the right Accountant” for goodground users? Having grown up on a dairy and beef farm I have a passion for farming and the outdoors in general. I spent a year, prior to going to university, working on the family farm, and many holidays after that, which allowed me to understand a lot of the issues farmers and lifestyle blocks face. In the future I plan to own my own lifestyle block. How can you help goodground users? As a Chartered Accountant my role covers all areas from tax advice, business planning, succession planning and structuring. There is often a fine line between being a “hobby” farm and “business” for lifestyle blocks. It is important that people know where they fit into the taxation system to ensure they take advantage of tax savings where possible while remaining compliant. One of my roles is to assist with this aspect, helping to ensure the “lifestyle” fits with the overall goals people have. What other accounting issues can you offer advice on?
