What made you want to work in the environmental field?

New Zealand's native fauna interests me and what better way to learn more about it than working with it?.

Did you always know that you'd like to do this kind of work?

Yes, I have always wanted to work outside on the land while still working with the community.

Did growing up on your Mum and Dad's block make you more aware of your surroundings?

It certainly did! It gave me steady foundations in solving environmental issues while being practical and achievable.

What did your degree and training involve?

I majored in Natural Resource Management which was based around sustainable agricultural practices.

What are the most rewarding aspects of your job?

Having the opportunity to be involved with a job from start to finish and it being completed in a successfully manner which benefits the company and the community around it.

Why are you looking foward to being goodGround's environmental expert?

I love a new challenge and am looking forward to being part of an ever changing, growing industry.

Ursula Albrecht: Master of Applied Science in Natural Resource Management. Four years of work experience in the Forestry Industry focused on Environmental Issues. Key areas of responsibility cover:

• Obtaining resource consents from Regional and District Council
• Obtaining Historic Place Trust authorities
• External consultation with neighbouring community groups, iwi, Department of Conservation, Landcare committees, Queen Elizabeth Trust II.
• Negotiation over District and Regional Council Plans
• Indigenous reserve management
• Environmental training and auditing
