Welcome to the September newsletter from goodGround.daffidol.jpg

Last month we welcomed spring, this month it's summer! The usual gradual transition of the seasons seems to have been by-passed this year. Already a number of people are talking "drought" and the sun seems to have plenty of heat in it for September. Is it global warming? Check out the kyoto article on our home page.

Now is a good time to check on water supplies to make sure you go into summer in the best possible shape. Two of the biggest losses of water are caused by leaks and evaporation. Both problems are easily solved - particularly when it's dry. Spend a few hours walking your water pipe lines looking for tell-tale damp spots. Check all connections and do use thread tape.

Its also a good time to of year to clean out all gutters leading to your water tanks. Evaporation during hot sunny days causes considerable water loss. Think about covering water troughs and dams - remember the greater the surface area the more the evaporation.

Think about your domestic situation (especially if you are on tank water), a household with 2 adults and 2 children can use up to 32 litres per minute at peak water times!

martin_headshot.jpgIt’s great to have a dog again! Owning dogs is always a pleasure. I have been lucky enough to own quite a few working dogs over the years .

Each of these dogs has left an impression. They all had different characteristics but they all had one thing in common – loyalty.

Let me introduce you to the goodGround dog. Her name is www, Dubdub for short. She is beautiful and full of fun. You will be seeing her around quite a lot from now on – lookout for her – she will sometimes bring you free gifts!

Dubdub demonstrates some of her styles below

Dubdubs breeding is interesting. She is an “e” working dog (and will not be microchiped). She was created by renowned artist Bevan Fiddler. Her training has been undertaken by myself and Sian and I am happy to report that she is responding well to commands, particularly “clicks” and “arrows”!

The best caption for “dog sitting happily” will win a free book!
